Latvia supports Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement within Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Andrejs Pildegovičs, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on July 3.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of relations, including in the military sphere between Azerbaijan and Latvia, underlining the importance of expanding relations in other fields.

The Latvian side was informed about the ineffectiveness of the ongoing negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict’s settlement, Armenia’s breach of the UN Security Council resolutions on unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories and other issues.

Pildegovičs said Latvia supports a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

“Latvia has always supported Azerbaijan`s just position at events held by international and various European bodies and will not change its attitude toward Azerbaijan,” he added.
