An industrial accident has occurred at Telemekhanika plant owned by Azerbaijan’s Defense Industry Ministry in the country’s Shirvan city, Azerbaijani Defense Industry Ministry told on July 6.
The accident caused an explosion in one of the shops at the plant.
Shirvan ambulance and emergency services station confirmed that the accident has left one dead and 12 more injured.
Telemekhanika plant started operation as “Instruments plant” in 1981. The “Industrial Automation & Telemechanics” plant was commissioned nearby in 1985. These two enterprises merged in 1989 to form “Industrial Automation & Telemechanics” plant. “Telemekhanika" production association was established on its base in 1991.
Telemekhanika was subordinated to the State Committee for Special Engineering and Conversion of Azerbaijan Republic in 1993.
The enterprise was renamed into “Telemekhanika” plant in 2006 and was subordinated to Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry.
