The election of leaders took place July 8 at the meeting of General Committee on Political Affairs and Security (First General Committee) within the framework of the 24th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Helsinki.
Azerbaijani MP Azay Guliyev has been elected deputy chairman of the committee and a member of the bureau of the assembly for the third time.
In addition, US Senator Roger Wicker has been re-elected chairman of the committee, and Margareta Cederfelt (Sweden) has been elected to the post of rapporteur of the committee for the first time.
Azay Guliyev has held this position since 2013.
