Russian peacekeepers neutralize 4,800 explosive items in Karabakh

Servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Defense Ministry neutralized 4,800 explosive items in Karabakh, Russian Defense Ministry reports.

During the day, about 8 hectares of territory, 7 km of road surface were cleaned, 50 buildings were surveyed, 51 explosive objects were found and removed for destruction.

In total, engineering units have cleared more than 155 hectares of terrain, more than 38 km of roads, 375 house-buildings, and 4,811 explosive objects have been detected and neutralized.

Note, the Armenian Armed Forces launched a large-scale military attack on positions of Azerbaijani army on the front line, using large-caliber weapons, mortars and artillery on Sept. 27. Azerbaijan responded with a counter-offensive along the entire front.

On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.
