Azerbaijani delegates prevent Armenian provocation in Istanbul conference
The results of the third regional conference of historians from Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia that took place in Istanbul on 22-28 August have been summed up in Baku.
Azerbaijan was represented by Public Union of Azerbaijani Historians at the conference.

Head of the public union Namiq Rustamov said at a press conference that the conference in Istanbul was held as part of the Eastern Partnership program.

“At the event each side prepared six education modules which should be of a regional nature and cover five states (Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia) and be focused at multi-cultural and inter-civilizational dialogue.”

“Unfortunately, Armenian school modules did not meet these requirements and Armenia provided not incorrect information.

“For example, Stefan Shaumyan was presented as a hero, Armenians were said to be an ancient nation in the region,” he said.

Rustamov noted that the Azerbaijani delegation protested against falsifying history by Armenians. “Armenians have promised to delete these moments due to protest of the Azerbaijani side.”

“If Armenians fail to eliminate mistakes, the European Commission will not accept education modules.”

Eastern Partnership, initiated by the European Union, aims at rapprochement with former six countries of the Soviet Union - Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia. Georgia and Belarus.
