`World to become safer place due to service of Azerbaijani peacekeepers`
“Due to the service of brave Azerbaijani peacekeepers, Afghanistan and the world will be a safer and better place,” he said and wished them a very safe and successful mission in Afghanistan.
“I have no doubt that they carve not only Azerbaijani philanthropy in history but also their names and courage on the heart and mind of the people of Afghanistan,” the ambassador added.
A group of 40 Azerbaijani soldiers, who are serving under the NATO-led “Resolute Support” noncombatant mission launched in Afghanistan from January 2015, left for Afghanistan on a rotating basis July 8.
The peacekeeping contingent of Azerbaijani Armed Forces has been serving under the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan since November 20, 2002.
