European Parliament - Armenia violates fundamental principles and objectives of ENP
According to the resolution, large parts of the neighborhood continue to be affected by armed conflicts, the existence of conflicts, including frozen or protracted ones, hampers economic, social and political transformation, whereas the EU should play a more active role in the peaceful resolution of the existing conflicts, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium, to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Mission to the European Union told.
The resolution says that respect for the territorial integrity of sovereign states is a fundamental principle of relations between countries in the European neighborhood and the occupation of a territory of one country by another is inadmissible. It reiterates support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of the partner countries, takes the view that the ENP should contribute to and be supportive of these principles in practice.
The resolution had regard to its previous resolutions on the European Neighborhood Policy, that of 23 October 2013 reflecting the position on Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “Frozen or protracted conflicts hamper the full development of the ENP. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be solved basing on 4 resolutions of the UN Security Council,” it stresses.
