CEC: Some structures want to slander transparency of electoral process in Azerbaijan
Certain structures are trying to create an illusion that Azerbaijan`s Central Election Commission (CEC) is preventing the transparent verification of election documents, Chairman of CEC Mazahir Panahov said during his speech at a meeting of CEC on Monday.

He added that all international or local observers, representatives of media outlets and other persons are invited to participate in the observation of the process of document verification.

"After all these processes, it is nothing but a desire to slander the commission`s activity.
They can get acquainted with the process of verification of signature sheets of any candidate, as well as to monitor this process," the CEC Chairman said.

According to Panahov, the CEC makes every effort to ensure that this process is transparent. The CEC Chairman noting that, some persons accuse the Commission of deliberately prolonging the time of verification of the documents added that the CEC has no interest in this issue.

Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on October 9. The previous one was held on October 15, 2008.

Azerbaijan holds presidential elections every five years.
