Armenian military presence in Karabakh  main obstacle to conflict settlement
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov gave a lecture to the participants of the 9th Baku Summer Energy School (BSES) at the ADA University, the Foreign Ministry told.

The lecture was dedicated to the foreign and energy policy of Azerbaijan.

Mammadyarov gave detailed information about the achievements Azerbaijan has made in the political, economic and social fields over the last ten years, priorities of the Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, Azerbaijan’s relations with the world community on bilateral and multilateral basis, Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijan territories and the process of negotiations that continue through the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to find a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The presence of Armenian armed forces in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is the main obstacle to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov said, adding the OSCE, OIC, the Council of Europe, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations support the UN Security Council’s resolutions which demand immediate and unconditional withdrawal of occupying forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

“The judgment on the case “Chiragov and others v. Armenia” passed by the European Court of Human Rights once again recognized Armenia as an aggressor,” the FM said.

Speaking about the development of transport and energy strategy of Azerbaijan, Mammadyarov stressed the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, the Trans-Asia and Trans-Adriatic gas pipelines. “Azerbaijan is contributing to intercultural and inter-religious dialogue at the global level through its rich national experience.”

Later on, Mammadyarov answered the questions of the participants of the 9th Baku Summer Energy School.
