Karabakh conflict settlement should be based on Helsinki Final Act principles
“OSCE MG wants the presidents in an acceptable time for them to meet and reach progress in the conflict’s settlement”

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved on the basis of the principles of the OSCE’s Helsinki Final Act – territorial integrity, self-determination and non-use of force, US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick told reporters in Baku on July 23.

As for the difference between the conflicts in Ukraine’s Donbass and Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh regions, Warlick said these conflicts are different, and each conflict has its own source and history, adding that the Ukrainian crisis and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can not be compared with each other.

To the question whether the US president will arrange a meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenian presidents or not, the co-chair said he does not want to talk about Obama’s plans.

“I do not want to talk about Obama’s plans. However, OSCE MG co-chairs want the presidents in an acceptable time for them to meet and reach progress in the conflict’s settlement,” Warlick replied.
