Rouhani, Putin to meet in Kyrgyz capital
Iran`s President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will hold their first meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.
The meeting will be on Friday and the two sides will discuss ways to expand cooperation and relations between the two countries, IRNA reported on Thursday.

According to the report, Rouhani will also attend and deliver a speech at the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Member States of the SCO.

Rouhani, who arrived in the city on Thursday, met with his Chinese, Kyrgyz, and Afghan counterparts on the same day.

The SCO is an intergovernmental security organization, founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Iran, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan are observer members of the organization.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif; Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh; and Rouhani`s Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian are accompanying him during his two-day trip to the Central Asian country.
