Over 300 people detained as part of special operation in Turkey
Over 300 people were detained as part of the anti-terrorist operation in 22 Turkish cities, the country
Some 27 foreign citizens are among those detained.

Other details of the special operation were not disclosed.

Istanbul’s police have recently held a major anti-terrorist operation. The operation involved more than 5,000 police officers. It is directed against illegal youth organizations.

A skirmish occurred among police officers and members of leftist groups during the anti-terrorist operation. A female participant of the leftist group "Revolutionary People`s Liberation Party/Front" (DHKP-C) was killed as a result.

Earlier, an anti-terrorist operation was conducted in six districts of Istanbul. Its details were not disclosed.

DHKP-C is responsible for terrorist acts committed in May 2013 in the town of Reyhanli in the Turkish province of Hatay, which killed 46 and injured 155 people.

Members of this group also committed a terrorist attack on the US Embassy in Ankara, which killed a security guard of the embassy and injured one more person.

Two armed men took the Prosecutor Selim Kiraz hostage in the Palace of Justice in Istanbul on March 31. Prosecutor Selim Kiraz, who was taken hostage, was wounded by five bullets during special operation to free him and later died in a hospital.
