Turkey calls on NATO to hold an extraordinary meeting, Milliyet reported.
"We have called on NATO to hold an extraordinary meeting in order to inform our allies about the steps in the last few days against terrorism", - said in the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The situation in Turkey in recent days is very tense.

According to the Turkish military, earlier on Thursday five IS militants fired with with rocket-propelled grenades and Kalashnikov rifles on border patrol in the province of Kilis. As a result of attack the one soldier died and two were wounded.

Earlier this week, a powerful explosion occured in Suruc city on the border with Syria. 32 people died and about 100 were injured. The attack has been widely blamed on Daesh by Turkish officials.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) announced Sunday it will hold an emergency ambassadorial-level meeting at Turkey’s request in connection with the recent terrorist attacks in the country, Sputnik reported.
