The visit of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius to Iran represents a resumption of the political dialogue between France and Iran at the highest level, French ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Monnier told on July 29.
“Following the historic agreement reached in Vienna on July 14, Laurent Fabius visits Tehran on July 29,” he said. “This is the first visit to Iran by a French foreign minister in 12 years.”

He will be received by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and will meet his counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, parliament chairman Ali Larijani, vice president and head of the Environmental Protection Organization Masoumeh Ebtekar; the minister of industry, mining and trade MohammadReza Nematadeh and Admiral Ali Shamkhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Monnier added.

Iran and P5 +1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) reached a historic agreement on Iran’s nuclear program July 14.

The negotiations ended with adoption of a joint comprehensive action plan. If Iran carries out this plan, the economic and financial sanctions earlier imposed on it by the UN Security Council, the US and EU will be lifted.
