The workers from the national railroad carrier, Turkish State Railways (tcdd), were repairing railways that were damaged in a bomb attack by

PKK members on a freight train that was carrying pipes to Erzurum as part of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline system (TANAP) earlier in the day.

Railway worker Nejdet Inanch was killed in the attack while Mehmet Chelik, a village guard, was injured in the attack, Kars Governor Gunay Ozdemir said.
