Azerbaijan is our major political and trading-economic partner in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi at a press conference after meeting with his counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, AzVision.az reports.
He said that we achieved a double-digit growth in trade in 2016-2019. Unfortunately, in the face of the pandemic and quarantine restrictions, our trade turnover decreased by 38% in 2020, being $142 million.
"Therefore, we agreed to use all available resources to activize our economic diplomacy and expand the range of goods exported to markets. We are ready and have enough potential to restore the previous trade indicators and achieve new trade indicators. Besides, we are interested in agreement regarding the issue of mutual recognition of vaccination passports, which will enable to restore direct air communication between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, increase business trips, " Tileuberdi also added.
