Kremlin comments on recent parliamentary elections in Armenia

The Kremlin is closely monitoring the situation with the parliamentary elections in Armenia, said Russian President's Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, AzVision.az reports.

"We are closely following the information coming from Yerevan. We welcome the information provided by the Central Election Commission of Armenia on the elections", Peskov stated.

The Kremlin supports the decision of the Armenian people to help the country to bring the path for sustainable growth.

Early parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 20. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civic Contract party won the 2008 election after a vote count.

25 political forces - 21 parties and 4 blocs participated in the elections. Of the 2,578 million eligible voters, 1,281,174 or 49.4% cast their ballots.
