Azerbaijan may become a gateway for communicating between Iran and the Caucasus region
The Minister of Economy and Industry, co-chair of the Azerbaijan- Iran joint Economic Commission Shahin Mustafayev met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani within his visit to Tehran on August 4.
During the meeting, the Iranian president said, Iran has a great potential for the development of relations and cooperation in various fields and neighboring countries including the Republic of Azerbaijan are prioritized in this regard .
President Rouhani noted the importance of the north-south corridor in the development of the two countries and said that Azerbaijan may become a gateway for communicating between Iran and the Caucasus region and that Azerbaijan, in turn, can get access to the world through the Persian and Oman Gulfs. `Therefore, you must take advantage of this potential to strengthen our cooperation`, the president said.
Moreover, the Iranian president stated joint investment by the two countries in the Caspian Sea would herald a good start for joint venture oil and gas projects. He said that different countries are interested in investing in Iran after the nuclear deal stressong that the neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan have an advantage in this respect.
The Azeri minister welcomed the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 and said Azerbaijan is confident in the benefiticial effect of the agreement on achieving peace and stability in the region and around the world.
The Minister highlighted, the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Shahin Mustafayev expressed Azerbaijani`s desire with Iran in energy, trade, transportation, industrial, agriculture, oil, petrochemical and banking sectors.
Shahin Mustafayev handed over to Hassan Rouhani a special letter of President Ilham Aliyev.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iran also attended the meeting.
