Iran launches four power plants on Persian Gulf island
Iran launched four power plants on the Persian Gulf island of Greater Tunb, said Abdolsaheb Arjmand, managing director of Hormozgan Province
He added that four small-scale power plants have a total output of 5 megawatts, Iran’s Shana news agency quoted Arjmand as saying August 5.

Hormozgan Province is located neighboring the Persian Gulf, southern Iran.

Arjmand added that the project cost 80 billion rials (about $2.5 million). Another power plant with 10MW output came on stream in April in the Aboumusa Island in the Persian Gulf, he noted.

According to a report, published by Iran`s Energy Ministry on June 21, the actual power generation capacity of Iran`s power plants was 56.856 gigawatts.

Iran has aimed to change all of its gas thermal power plants with 31 percent efficiency into combined power plants (CCPP). CCPPs share currently about 25.28 percent of the country`s total power generation capacity.

During the last fiscal year, Iran decreased electricity export by 14 percent to a 9.95 billion kWh, while its electricity import increased by 2 percent to 3.769 billion kWh.
