Surveillance cameras to be installed at Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline

Additional security measures are being implemented at Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, Reha Aykul Muratoglu, head of Transit Petroleum Pipelines Department under Turkey`s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, told APA-Economics.

“Surveillance cameras will be installed at Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. Additional security measures are being implemented, but I can’t give detailed information about it,” Aykul said.

As for the restoration of gas supplies through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline, the ministry official said that repair work is underway in the part of the pipeline where the explosion occurred. According to him, the repair work will soon be completed.

As a result of the PKK’s attack, an explosion occurred on the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline’s section in the Sarikamis region of Turkey’s north-eastern province of Kars on August 4. Gas supply through the pipeline was suspended.
