President: Our future will be even better
President Ilham Aliyev made a speech during the opening of a highway in Jalilabad.

"Today more than 20 large farms are operating in Azerbaijan and productivity in these farms is at least 2 times higher than the total productivity in the country. 50-60 quintals of harvest are yield per hectare. This is a new approach and our policy".

According to APA, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this at the opening of the Alar-Tezekend-Uchtepe-Aligasimli-Jafarkhanli highway as part of his visit to Jalilabad.

This year was declared in Azerbaijan as the "Year of Agriculture". The head of state expressed his satisfaction with the fact that larger crop was collected: "This year, agriculture has risen by more than 7 percent. For each country, food security is one of the most important issues. We are solving this problem in Azerbaijan. We try to fully provide Azerbaijan`s demand with its food. There is every opportunity to reach this, including land, equipment, and funds allocated by the state. It provides subsidies, fertilizers, and fuel. At the same time, the equipment is provided by AgroLeasing. That is the state fulfills all its obligations. Let farmers efficiently use these opportunities to rapidly develop the agriculture."

The President expressed his full confidence that Azerbaijan can 100 percent ensure its own food security: "I believe that to achieve this goal, we need just a few years. Because we thought the policy embedded in the investment regions, at the same time of the recent reforms will provide full food security. I believe that such an approach should be to other areas. Building materials, food products and the development of industry, of course, have to be constantly in the spotlight."

The Head of State said gasification in Jalilabad is estimated at about 40 percent, which is very low: "The State Oil Company, "Azerigaz", which is its structure, will be instructed to accelerate gasification process here. We are committed to bring the country`s gasification to 95 percent. Networks are created, gas production is increasing in Azerbaijan. We have been exporting gas abroad, but first we must ensure the needs of the people of Azerbaijan."

Noting that this year the country`s economy increased by about 6 percent in the first half of the year, the president said that this may be the highest figure in the world: "The non-oil sector increased by more than 9 percent. This is the highest rate. Despite the fact that part of our economy is related to oil and gas, and prices have dropped sharply and are continuing to decline, we do not cut any social project, even the projects of socio-economic infrastructure. The current project is a clear evidence of this. These projects are being implemented across the country. The construction of rural roads has become widespread in the country, because there is a great need for this. This is a social issue putting people`s comfort and economic issues at the foreground, since new jobs will be created, as new enterprises will open. At the same time we will solve many problems. Therefore, rural roads are very important in the economic sphere, in addressing social and economic issues. Our achievements show that Azerbaijan is developing rapidly and steadily, and our future will be even better."
