Baku to host another World Championship
Baku is ready to host the world championship of 470 Olympic class sailing.

AzerTag reports that the information was provided by the press service of the Sailing Federation of Azerbaijan.

It is noted that the General Assembly of the International Association of 470 class Olympic sailing was held in Athens. During the Assembly a voting was held to determine the country that will hold the World Championship-2016 in sailing in this class.

According to voting results, it was decided to hold the 2016 World Championship 470 class Olympic sailing in Azerbaijan, which scored the highest number of votes (254).

470 class Olympic sailing involved sports sailboats operated with both hands. The name of this class came from the overall length of the sailboat in centimeters (the length of the boat - 4.70 m). These boats can sail at high speed. Boats belonging to 470 class Olympic yachting, have a larger weight compared to their sails, which creates the possibility for high-speed control and maneuvering them.

This sport is one of the 10 varieties of sailing included in the Olympic program since 1976. Competitions in this sport, which involved more than three hundred athletes are considered as one of the largest maritime event.
