Rally on restoration of diplomatic relations with Russian to be held in Tbilisi
The rally on the restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia will be held in Tbilisi on September 24. It is organized by the "Eurasian choice - Georgia" coalition of non-governmental organizations.
One of the leaders of the coalition, chairman of Irakli II Society Archil Chkoidze said that protesters will gather at Kashveti Church on Rustaveli Avenue and march to the Foreign Ministry.

They will voice the main requirements and try to draw the authorities` attention to this important issue.

According Chkoidze, the organizers` main purpose is to attempt to draw the authorities` attention to the problem.

"We want our government to take into account the requirement as it is possible to restore the territorial integrity of Georgia and resolve conflicts only by restoring good relations with Russia," he added. "In any case, if we do not restore diplomatic relations with Russia, only Georgia will lose. People often say that it is impossible as there are three Russian embassies in Georgia. For example, Japan and Russia are disputing about the Kuril Islands. Japan claims that these islands were occupied by Russia, but does not break the diplomatic relations with it."

He stressed that the restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia in the future will simplify the visa regime for the Georgian citizens, play a positive role in ensuring the security of the country and will help resolve the conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The repeated referendum on Georgia`s foreign policy, the advisability of its integration into the EU and NATO will be another requirement.
