Nearly 50 Armenian servicemen were surrounded at Lake Garagol amid the Armenian defense minister’s visit, AzVision.az reports.
In order to distinguish himself from his incompetent predecessors, the current Armenian defense minister Arshak Karapetyan instructed the personnel of the armed forces to relocate near Lake Garagol and take more advantageous positions near the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border. Karapetyan signed an order regarding the deployment of 50 Armenian servicemen equipped with arms and operational ammunition in two KamAZ trucks in the direction of the state border.
In accordance with the order, they had to take control of the road connecting the posts of the Azerbaijani army units within a short period of time. Blocking the road with metal grids, the Armenian servicemen made an attempt to cut through the road between the positions of the Azerbaijani servicemen. However, the Armenian military was forced to retreat after the repulsion by Azerbaijani servicemen.
Less than half an hour later, Azerbaijani army's special forces arrived at the scene of the incident. Then, the Armenian servicemen were surrounded.
Armenian servicemen were forced to stop, since they did could not advance further. Besides, being cut off from the rear, in -10 degrees without any food, water and appropriate means (firewood) for heating, they found themselves in a hopeless position.
Unlike the Armenian forces, Azerbaijani servicemen were provided with food, tents and heating. As a result, Armenian servicemen pitifully asked for food and water from our soldiers.
The Russian border guards resolved the situation. Only their appeal to the Azerbaijani command allowed the Armenian soldiers to leave by themselves.
With such unreasonable actions, the Armenian military command will not be able to achieve a positive result, but only risk the lives of its soldiers.
