‘An important message relayed’
He referred to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s recent tour of the region and said the top Iranian diplomat took an important message to the countries he visited.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif recently visited Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Pakistan, and India as part of different regional tours.
Zoubi has traveled to Iran at the head of a delegation to participate in the eighth session of the General Assembly of the Radio and TV Union of Islamic Countries (IRTVU).
“Supporting [our] neighbors, friends and allies is a priority in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Amir-Abdollahian added.
The Syrian minister, for his part, thanked Iran for its support for Syria in the fight against terrorist groups such as Daesh and the al-Nusra Front.
“Syria is facing a Zionist plot and, regrettably, some of the countries in the region are going along with this conspiracy,” Zoubi said in reference to the foreign-backed militancy that has been plaguing his country for over four years and has killed more than 240,000 people.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Syrian minister congratulated the Iranian nation and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei over the nuclear agreement recently reached between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries.
He described the finalization of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), by Iran and the P5+1 – the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia, and Germany – as a victory for all the nations in the region.
