Iran unveils new ballistic missile
Iran has unveiled a new home-made ballistic missile with high accuracy during a ceremony attended by the Islamic Republic President Hassan Rouhani.
The new missile dubbed “Fateh 313” is a solid-propellant short-range missile, produced by the country’s Aerospace Industries Organization, the official IRIB news agency reported Aug. 22.

The missile is an optimized model of the "Fateh" series missiles with a 500 kilometers range and high precision against point targets.

Mass-production of "Fateh 313" is on the agenda of the Islamic Republic’s defense ministry.

Iranian media outlets report that Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems in recent years.

Tehran established an arms development program during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s to counter the weapons embargo imposed on it by the U.S. and its Western allies.

Since 1992, Iran has been manufacturing its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes. Iran also unveiled its first domestically-manufactured long-range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in 2010.
