Azerbaijan's energy minister holds meetings in Germany

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has met with delegations led by Romanian Energy Minister Virgil-Daniel Popescu and Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Energie-Agentur (DENA) Andreas Kuhlmann on the sidelines of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, AzVision.az reports citing the Ministry of Energy. 

At the meeting held with the Romanian Energy Minister, the sides discussed future projects on the supply of natural gas from Azerbaijan and cooperation between the two countries’ relevant companies.

They also exchanged views on the Black Sea submarine power and digital connectivity project between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania. The steps to be taken within the Working Group on the project were reviewed. They evaluated the project in the aspect of the export of electricity through the realization of the wind energy potential in the Caspian Sea.

The meeting with DENA Chief Executive Andreas Kuhlmann and Managing Director Kristina Haverkamp focused on renewable energy cooperation. The sides highly appreciated the cooperation with the agency on the development of decentralized renewable energy in Azerbaijan with the development of 4 pilot project proposals. During the discussions, the sides also considered the issues and recommendations on the implementation of pilot projects and agreed to maintain intensive contacts. They also expressed interest in expanding cooperation with DENA on renewable energy.
