Japan respects Azerbaijan
As part of his visit to Japan, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov has met with Japanese MP Yasukazu Hamada, deputy executive secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and chairman of the foreign relations bureau.

At the meeting also joined by Azerbaijani ambassador to Japan Gursel Ismayilzade and MPs from the LDP Toshinao Nakagava and Keitaro Ono, Ali Hasanov noted that friendly relations between the two countries are rapidly developing and emphasized the role of mutual official visits in this area, the committee told APA.

Ali Hasanov also gave information about the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, saying Armenia has occupied 20 percent territory of Azerbaijan and caused a flood of more than a million refugees and IDPs. He said that the OSCE Minsk Group, who are working to settle the conflict, has not achieved any positive result yet. Ali Hasanov also said political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan are developing in an upward trend, mentioning that himself is the deputy chairman of Azerbaijan’s ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP). He noted that cooperation between the two ruling parties may make significant contributions to the development of relations between the two countries’ friendly peoples. The YAP deputy chairman expressed his confidence that negotiations being held in this regard would soon yield positive a result, and invited the opposite side to pay a visit to Azerbaijan.

Hamada in his turn said Japan is interested to build high level relations with Azerbaijan, noting that Japan recognizes and respects Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The bureau chairman mentioned that Japan too once faced a similar problem, saying he is confident that the historical justice will be restored and the occupied lands will be liberated.
