Pakistan parliamentary team to observe Azerbaijan`s presidential election
Senator Haji Adeel informed on Saturday the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan that a parliamentary delegation would leave for Azerbaijan on Monday (October 7) to observe its presidential election, Associated Press reported.
Chairing a committee meeting here at the Parliament House, Haji Muhammad Adeel said the delegation representing six different political parities, including ruling and opposition, would stay in Azerbaijan till October 11.

The election commission of Azerbaijan invited a 15-member Pakistan`s parliamentary delegation to observe their upcoming presidential election, he added.

The meeting was attended by senators Farahat Ullah Baber, Sehar Kamran, Jehangir Badar, Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Syeda Sughra Imam, member National Assembly Tahira Aurangzaib, Secretary and Additional Secretary Foreign Office and ex-secretary Senate Iftikhar Ullah Baber.

The committee members appreciated Azerbaijan`s invitation and said it was an honour for Pakistan that a large parliamentary delegation was invited to observe the presidential election.

The committee unanimously adopted a resolution, tabled by senators Jehangir Badar and Mushahid Hussain Syed, thanking Azerbaijan for its support on the Kashmir issue at different world forums and expressing full backing for the integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Earlier, the committee was briefed by the Additional Secretary Foreign Office about history, economy, foreign affairs, culture, religious values of Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Armenia and its relations with Pakistan.
