Finland and Latvia to replace Russia in hosting 2023 Ice Hockey World Cup

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has decided to hold the 2023 World Championship in Tampere (Finland) and Riga (Latvia), AzVisionşaz reports citing Interfax.

"The IIHF Congress approved the joint bid of Finland and Latvia to host the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship instead of St. Petersburg after the rights to host the tournament were revoked from Russia," the statement said.

The tournament will be held on May 12-28, 2023.

The venues for the 2024, 2025, and 2026 World Championships have also been selected. So the world championship will be hosted by Czech Prague and Ostrava in 2024, Swedish Stockholm and Danish Herning in 2025, and Swiss Zurich and Friborg in 2026.
