Ukrainian parliament supports amendments to Constitution in first reading

The decision was supported by 265 MPs at the required minimum of 226.

The bill on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in terms of decentralization of power was presented in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by Ukrainian president`s representative in the Parliament, Poroshenko Bloc faction MP Stepan Kubiv.

As reported earlier, July 31, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine approved the bill as consistent with the Constitution of Ukraine and not aimed at liquidation of Ukraine`s independence or violation of its territorial integrity.

Bill`s final adoption requires at least 300 votes of the parliamentarians.

The three parties – Samopomich, Radical Party and Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc – that include in the ruling coalition announced that they are not going to vote for the document.
