TAP consortium aims at connecting to the regional gas markets
South-Eastern Europe is one of the regions that could benefit most from the opening of the Southern Gas Corridor and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) remains committed to the facilitation of connecting to multiple gas markets in the region , Azvision.az reports citing CBC.
Despite the fact that the Consortium TAP is not involved in any negotiations aimed at the possibility of building of branch lines from the main gas pipeline to other countries, the consortium is considering the possibility of connecting to the key infrastructure of the region, such as the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline (IAP), reported the press service of the consortium.

Earlier, the Montenegrin daily newspaper Dnevne Novine disseminated information that the issue of accession of Montenegro to the TAP will be discussed at the end of August at a meeting of representatives of the Balkan countries in Vienna (Austria).

TAP has signed several Memoranda of Understanding and Cooperation (MoUC) with the developers of the proposed pipeline IAP, which will cross Montenegro as well," - said the press service of the consortium.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline is designed to transport gas to the EU from the second stage of development of Azerbaijani gas condensate field "Shah Deniz". Its route passes through Greece, Albania, Adriatic Sea and further to the south of Italy.

The initial capacity of the pipeline will be 10 billion cubic meters per year, expandable to 20 billion. Shipment of gas from the second stage of "Shah Deniz" to Europe on the said route is planned for the beginning of 2020.
