Azerbaijani parliament speaker meets with Czech counterpart in New York

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met with Jan Hamacek, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, on the sidelines of the fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in New York.

The sides exchanged views on the current state and development prospects of mutual relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic.

Noting the successful organization of the first-ever European Games in Baku, Hamacek praised the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Expressing satisfaction with the current state of Azerbaijani-Czech relations, Ogtay Asadov said the Czech Republic is one of the European countries that first gave a political assessment to the Khojaly tragedy.

In addition, the sides stressed the importance of developing joint programs and projects in the economic, cultural and educational fields.

The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is held every for years. The 2015 conference that will last till September 2 is attended by 138 parliament speakers and 39 deputy speakers from 140 countries.
