Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway construction coming to end - Georgian PM
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has said in his speech at the Ambassadorial-2015 forum in Tbilisi that the country will host the high-level Great Silk Road Forum in October, according to Vzglyad Gazeta.

He noted that in February of this year the first freight train went from China to Europe through Georgia. “This is just a portion of the Great Silk Road project joined by Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and China”.

Garibashvili added that the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is coming to an end and that it will open up new opportunities for the Caspian region to connect to Europe through Turkey.

Garibashvili also spoke of Georgia’s relations with neighboring countries, noting that the country closely cooperates with Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Armenia.

“In relation to our neighbors including Russia, it’s very necessary to continue pragmatic policy. I think there is no alternative to peaceful dialogue and pragmatic policy,” he said.
