Azerbaijani grandmaster Shahriyar Mammadyarov will test his strength at the Aimchess Rapid, the eighth leg of the 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, to be held on October 14-21 online on chess24.
Along with Mammadyarov, the tournament will feature super-grandmasters like Magnus Carlsen, Daniel Naroditsky, Anish Giri, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Vincent Keymer, Richard Rapport, Arjun Erigaisi, David Anton, Pentala Harikrishna, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Vidit Gujrathi, Nils Axel Grandelius, Eric Hansen, Gukesh Dommaraju and IM Aditya Mittal.
The Prelims on the first 4 days see each player play every other player once at rapid chess, with 15 minutes per player per game, plus a 10-second increment after each move.
The Top 8 players after the Prelims enter the Knockout, where the quarterfinals and semifinals consist of one 4-game rapid match, while the final is held over two such mini-matches. A blitz playoff decides a tie.
The prize fund is $150,000.
