All conditions created in migrant detention centers in Azerbaijan - IOM director general
“We visited migrant detention centers along with the Baku office head. We always support open detention centers. The conditions created there were wonderful,” Director-General of the International Organization of Migration (IOM) William Lacy Swing told reporters in Baku on Sep.3.

William Lacy said he has been to migrant detention centers in a number of countries.

“But I would like to say that this is one of the most beautiful migrant detention centers. People settled there have been provided with all necessary conditions such as rooms, nourishment, resting, etc. They are free. I want to thank the Azerbaijani government and Azerbaijan State Migration Service for having created such wonderful detention centers. We have been to close migrant detention centers. The conditions created there were good too. The fact that there are very few people in these centers suggests that you have managed to resolve their problems. That is, in case a problem arises in future, you will be prepared for this as well. I would suggest Baku to other countries in terms of exchange of experience with regard to this kind of detention centers,” noted the director general.
