UAE’s CNN Arabia TV channel has aired a reportage highlighting Nij village of Azerbaijan’s Gabala district.
Describing Azerbaijan as a multicultural country, the reportage provided insight into the life and traditions of the Udi people, the Orthodox Christian community living in Azerbaijan, as well as the ancient monuments of the period of Caucasian Albania.
The reportage said that Udis, one of the ancient Alban tribes settled in the area in the 3rd century BC – 8th century AD and managed to preserve its unique religion, language and lifestyle.
The reportage also noted that there are currently about 10 thousand Udis living in the world, with 4 thousand residing in the Nij village. The reporter mentioned that the 3 churches located in the village - a bright example of ancient heritage, as well as the hospitality of local people are a real magnet for tourists from all over the world.
