Kazakhstan starts issuing QR code cards for foreign tourists to ensure their safety

Foreign visitors entering Kazakhstan will be issued a card with a QR code linking to a multilingual portal where tourists can access safety recommendations for their stay, according to Kazinform News Agency.

The Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs is taking efforts to ensure safety of the foreign tourists arriving in Kazakhstan. Henceforth, each foreign tourist can receive a QR-code card upon entry and at border control point.

The first QR code cards have already been issued to foreign guests at the Astana International Airport.

SafeTravel.kz portal provides links to download useful mobile applications and recommendations to ensure safe stay in the territory of Kazakhstan, such as 102 for immediate communication with the police including through SOS function; rules of complying with migration legislation; map of the host city with a link to popular applications; list of official taxi and online services; list of communication services providers with a link to their official websites; algorithm of actions in different incidents; contacts of other emergency services;

The launch of the system aims at ensuring protection and security of tourists and raising trust in Kazakhstan as a promising destination for travel and investment.
