Ex-minister: Draining of Lake Urmia will lead to emergence of serious diseases

The draining of Lake Urmia will lead to the emergence of serious diseases, Azerbaijan's former Minister of Education, Prof.Firudin Jalilov said during the public discussions on the draining of Lake Urmia, AzVision.az reports.

He said that after the lake dries up, a serious ecological problem will arise in the region: "Because after the lake dries up, a large mass of salt will form in its place, and the wind will scatter this salt around. This will create a serious ecological problem in that region and lead to the displacement of 16 million Azerbaijanis living there, and the main goal is to weaken the Azerbaijanis by displacing them."

According to Jalilov, by some information, there is uranium under Lake Urmia, which Iran wants to extract.
