Azerbaijani armed forces carry out over 200 retaliation strikes on Armenia
Taking into account the operational situation, Azerbaijani armed forces carried out 208 strikes on Armenia’s positions, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said Sept.6.

Armenian armed forces have broken the ceasefire with Azerbaijan 145 times in various parts of the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian armies in the last 24 hours.

Armenian military used mortars and large-caliber machine guns to shell Azerbaijani troops’ positions.

Azerbaijani positions located in the villages of Kemerli, Qaymaqli and Ashagi Askipara of the Qazakh district underwent fire from the positions located in the villages of Dovekh, Barekamavan, Voskepar of Armenia’s Noyemberyan district.

Azerbaijani positions located in the villages of Alibeyli, Aghdam and Kokhanebi and the nameless heights of the Tovuz district underwent fire from the positions located in the villages of Aygepar, Mosesgerh, Chinari and the nameless heights of Armenia’s Berd district.

Azerbaijani positions located on the nameless heights of the Gadabay district underwent fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Armenia’s Krasnoselsk district.

Another ceasefire violation came from the positions located near the villages of Tapgaragoyunlu, Gulustan of the Goranboy district, Chileburt, Goyarkh, Chayli, Yaromja of the Terter district, Yusifjanli, Shuraabad, Merzili, Garagashli, Kengerli, Novruzlu, Sarijali, Javahirli, Shikhlar of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino of the Khojavend district, Horadiz, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli, Gorgan, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Veyselli of the Fizuli district and Mehdili of the Jabrayil district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

Taking into account the operational situation, Azerbaijani armed forces carried out 208 strikes on Armenia’s positions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council`s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
