Azerbaijan, Tunisia mull energy cooperation

Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has met with Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy of Tunisia Neila Nouira Gongi in the United Arab Emirates, AzVision.az reports. 

At the meeting, the cooperation between the two countries on the supply of crude oil and renewable energy was discussed. It was noted that SOCAR and STIR (State Oil Company of Tunisia) had more than ten years of cooperation on the supply of crude oil and oil products of Azerbaijan and of various origins. The Tunisian minister expressed the need for high-quality Azerbaijani crude oil for oil refining in her country and her intention to continue cooperation between the relevant companies of the two countries on oil supply.

At the meeting, the sides talked about the energy course aimed at diversifying the energy supply of both countries and developing renewable energy. Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said that Azerbaijan, a reliable exporter of oil and natural gas, is planning to become a supplier of clean energy.

"For this, we work with international energy companies on 23GW green energy projects. We continue our policy of favoring diversification in energy security of ourselves and our partners,” the minister said.

Minister Neila Nouira Gongi expressed their interest in cooperation on the exchange of practices with Azerbaijan on the renewable energy and regulation of energy issues.
