Minister: TANAP will help reduce gas prices in Turkey
Trans-Anatolian pipeline (TANAP) project will help reduce gas prices in Turkey, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said today, Zaman newspaper reported.
According to him, TANAP project is one of the most important projects in the field of economy.

Gas sold to the customers in Turkey is below the import cost, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz said earlier.

According to the minister, Turkey doesn`t purchase gas at a low price, but the opportunities of customers are taken into account during the sale.
He also stressed that some 45.5 billion cubic meters of gas was consumed in Turkey in 2012.

Some 13.95 billion cubic meters of gas was sold in Turkey`s domestic market in January-April 2013, compared to nearly 16.02 billion cubic meters of gas in the same period of last year.
TANAP project envisages gas transportation from the Shah Deniz field to Europe via Turkey. The initial capacity is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters per year. Around six billion cubic meters will be delivered to Turkey and the rest to Europe.
