On Monday, February 6, Turkiye and Syria suffered from earthquakes that claimed thousands of lives. Now tens of thousands of people are waiting for first aid, Lidia Parkhomchik, a Kazakhstan Institute of World Economy and Politics expert, told Vzglyad.az.
Parkhomchik stated that this kind of natural disaster enables us to know how friendly countries are close to each other.
“This kind of events let us know to what extent we are ready to help each other, to provide first aid, and in general, to what extent the international community is ready to cooperate. Therefore, Kazakhstan and Turkiye have shown that they are brotherly people and in the very first hours after the disaster, the Kazakh authorities immediately reacted. In a matter of hours, they prepared the first emergency brigade. Rescuers, dog handlers, and specially trained physicians got ready to operate in Turkiye's earthquake-hit regions. The first plane arrived in Turkiye,
Now the second group is getting prepared for Turkiye. The total number of Kazakh specialists working in Turkiye is about 100 people. At the same time, they are also ready to provide additional emergency assistance at the request of Turkiye. Approximately 125 highly qualified doctors are waiting to be sent to Turkiye if such a request is received. Also, many countries, about 45 countries, have offered a solid package of assistance. Kazakhstan is no exception. Here we are talking about the allocation of a minimum of one million dollars for restoration work. Unfortunately, a lot of resources are required.
Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan also coordinated their actions with Ankara and sent their rescuers. Such assistance is needed in order to prevent further deterioration of the situation. All, of Kazakhstan and the Central Asian states, Azerbaijan are fraternal peoples and are very close with Turkiye. Everyone should make an effort to minimize human losses. Moreover, such disasters occur completely unexpectedly,” the Kazakhstani expert noted.
