Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry undergoing fundamental staff and structure reforms
A number of persons have in recent months been suspended from their diplomatic activity

“In line with the government policy, the Foreign Ministry system is undergoing fundamental staff and structure reforms, officials unfit for diplomatic service or with serious deficiencies in their activity are being dismissed, and other disciplinary actions are being taken,” the ministry’s press service has told.

According to information, a number of persons have in recent months been suspended from their diplomatic activity.

“Anar Hasanov, a former official of the Azerbaijani embassy in Australia, is among such. There several other officials and they will be taken measures against once the investigations are over. The Ministry of Finance and the Chamber of Accounts conduct regular financial inspection and audit at our diplomatic offices abroad by turns. Regrettably, those that are dismissed due to being unfit or having service flaws, tend to spread lies and misinformation afterwards,” said the statement.

As for Hasanov’s stay in Australia, the press service said he was dismissed due to his service flaws in July of this year.

“Azerbaijan is a diplomatic country and there are all necessary conditions for individuals to move freely. An official whose diplomatic activity has been terminated is free to make up his mind as to where to live,” the statement concluded.
