"A great deal of money has been spent to aggravate the situation in Azerbaijan. On the eve of the presidential elections, there were attempts to destabilize and destroy Azerbaijan"

Azerbaijan has its own position on international issues and states its position without fear. Because of this reason, Azerbaijan has earned much sympathy and respect around the world, the country’s President Ilham Aliyev said on Tuesday’s meeting dedicated to economic issues and preparation of the state budget for 2016.

The head of state said that Azerbaijan has fair positions on all issues.

"Defending the fair position, we cannot look away from these affairs. Today the world map is undergoing changes and these changes are likely to continue in future. As for Azerbaijan, despite this negative scenery the country`s economy is developing and stability is strengthening, and our international positions are getting stronger. The number of countries that cooperate with Azerbaijan is growing by the day. Azerbaijan is a valuable and respected member of the international community. The country is going in a positive direction, the public support our policy. Even in the years of crisis, our economy is developing successfully,” the head of state stressed.

President Ilham Aliyev said that the ugly scenarios of what is happening in the Middle East in fact had been meant for Azerbaijan too.

The head of state said these processes become even more serious in early 2013.

“On the eve of the presidential elections, there were several attempts to destabilize situation and destroy Azerbaijan. I clearly state this. Only enemies of the Azerbaijani people and state could be involved in these processes, because today Azerbaijan is a modern, civilized, developing and tolerant state in the world. Who do we interfere? Nobody!,” President Aliyev said.

The president went on to add that Azerbaijan has established equal with all countries based on mutual respect.

“Who do we interfere?. Only those circles that intend to dominate everywhere and see puppets everywhere. They do not want to see politicians backed by their people. But the fact is that in Azerbaijan everything is decided by the will of the people not incitement of foreign circles. The Azerbaijani people said "no" to all these dirty intentions. The Azerbaijani people supported the government. Today, this support is the main source of our strength. The unity between the people and the government guarantees the stability of Azerbaijan. And those who are jealous of our achievements, let them know that we all look straight in the eye and express our views freely. We have managed to ensure an independent life of Azerbaijan. As a result of this policy we are able to protect our country from major disasters,” President Aliyev noted.
