Fall in oil prices connected with certain political interests
The main reasons for the fall in oil prices are connected with political factors and interests, Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Natig Aliyev said at a meeting with Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Beibit Isabayev, the ministry said Sept. 9.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations based on deep historical roots and friendship. It was stressed that strong political-economic ties ensured the successful cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and created opportunities for implementing the joint projects.

"During the meeting the sides also exchanged views on the future directions of developing cooperation and the current economic and financial crisis in the world," a statement said.
While speaking about more than a twofold fall in oil prices and the impact of the crisis on the economy, Aliyev said that the main reasons for the fall in oil prices are connected with certain political factors and interests.

"Azerbaijan’s high economic indices allow forming an opinion that the country will overcome this stage through a thought-out economic policy,” he said. “All countries, including Kazakhstan, may overcome the current situation only by their pragmatism."
