Norway offers to host int`l donor conference for Syrian refugees
Norway on Wednesday offered to host an international donor conference in the Nordic country to help millions of Syrian refugees who are in need of humanitarian assistance.
"The conflict in Syria has created the largest refugee crisis in our time. The international community must step up its efforts to help refugees and civilians in need in Syria and the neighbouring countries," Norway`s Prime Minister Erna Solberg told a press conference.

"I have therefore written to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today, offering to host a donor conference for the Syrian crisis in Norway," she said.

More than four million Syrians have fled to neighbouring countries and the vast majority of whom live outside formal camps, UNHCR spokesperson Melissa Fleming said on Monday, adding that their hope is also dwindling as they are sinking deeper into abject poverty.

The Syria Refugee and Resilience Programme for 2015 is currently just 37 percent funded and no sector of the aid programme is unaffected, the UN refugee agency spokesperson said. Enditem
