Convention on Caspian Sea
On September 8-10, the Russian capital of Moscow hosted the 41st meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group for Development of Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.
The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpour, Russian President`s Special Representative on the delimitation and demarcation of borders with CIS states Igor Bratchikov and Chairman of the State Enterprise on Issues of the Caspian Sea under the President of Turkmenistan Murat Atajanov. The meeting was chaired by Igor Bratchikov.

During the discussion of the draft convention of the Caspian Sea’s legal status, the sides paid special attention to the method of establishing baselines, the development of mode of navigation and research in the Caspian Sea. The exchange of expert opinions will continue at the next meetings of the working group.

The delegations participating in the meeting praised the outcomes of the 41st meeting.

The next meeting of the working group will take place in Kazakhstan. The meeting date will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
