Calling for sanctions is ridiculous - Ali Huseynli
The resolution adopted by the European Parliament on Sept.10 is the continuation of an anti-Azerbaijani policy that launched by the West on the eve of the first European Games, and it was predictable.

Simply, this resolution is more biased against the Azerbaijani state and government and sometimes it also abounds in abusive language. They can be sure that the Azerbaijani side will give an adequate response at the national level and at events in Europe, Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on law policy and state building Ali Huseynli told on Sept.11.

Huseynli noted that the call to impose sanctions and visa ban on officials and politicians for political persecutions is ridiculous. “None outside the country can impose ban against Azerbaijani officials. If any of the EU countries and their representatives will attempt to make such a stupid act, then we will have to reconsider bilateral relations with these countries. And of course they will suffer from this,” the chairman said.

“However, those MEPs, who illegally visited Azerbaijan’s occupied territories and voted against Azerbaijan in yesterday’s declaration, can not enter the country in any way, Huseynli said, adding the situation is that the MEPs, soiled with corruption, accuse the Azerbaijani authorities of corruption and call for investigation. If our law-enforcement agencies carried out more detailed investigation on the cases of “human rights defenders”, received grants from the Western organizations and EU, those European officials would have been involved in this investigation,” he stressed.

Huseynli said yesterday`s resolution of the European Parliament showed that the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly, which includes Azerbaijan, is absolutely useless structure, and it`s time to leave it.

The committee chairman went on to add that as before, the Western and European official will again apologize to the Azerbaijani president for such a unwise decision and ask to continue strategic cooperation with Europe.
