Musabayov accuses Warlick of superficial knowledge of US history
Political scientist Rasim Musabayov has commented on the recent Twitter statement of US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick.
"This is just another clap trap in Twitter from US co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick.

Warlick asked rhetorically: "Abraham Lincoln brought us from war to reconciliation rising above politics and beginning a new chapter in our history. Is there a courageous Abraham Lincoln in Armenia or Azerbaijan who is prepared to bring peace and reconciliation? Are the people of the region ready to live side by side in peace, security, and prosperity?"

What is it, a superficial knowledge of history of his own country? What `courage` equal to that of Abraham Linkolm would Warlick want to see from the Azerbaijani leader," Musabayov says.

The political scientist reminded Warlick that President Lincoln did not fear the responsibility for the bloodshed war to avert the breakaway of southern states from the United States for the preservation of the territorial integrity of the federation.

"Azerbaijani leadership is acting the same way to restore the territorial integrity of the country within its internationally recognized borders in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council and UN General Assembly. Azerbaijan is ready to extend a hand of reconciliation in case of the peace solution to this conflict, ensure security, free national development for the Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh, and cooperation in economic, transport and energy sphere for Armenia, " Musabayov said.

He noted that Baku has no territorial claims to Armenia, though creation of this state in the historical lands of Azerbaijan is a fact.
"There are no Azerbaijani servicemen in the territory of Armenia, while Armenian troops are present in the territory of Azerbaijan, doing it openly and impudently with the full support of the countries mediating the peace settlement.

Mr.Warlick`s Twitter statement majes it obvious that he just continues the old and unfair line of the United States and other western supporters of Armenians in equalling the aggressor and the victim of aggression, laying the equal responsibility for the lack of progress in the peace settlement of the conflict," the political scientist said.

He added that with such an attitude it is difficult for Baku to expect from the superpowers to persuade Armenians to reject its plans on annexation of Nagorno Katabakh and other occupied lands, and Azerbaijan is obliged to rely more on its armed forces, as well as economic and diplomatic pressure.
